ME UPDATES: TOP PARTS OF MY LAST WEEK (part of my Livelournal)

Friday:
I did oysters and wine with a friend in the Ferry building- and heard another bad health care story that made me nearly cry and pissed me off.

Saturday:
I went to see "Wiener Takes All" about the cut-throat world of Dodson racing - it was great - I so relate to Dodson, who race with their heart and short legs...

Sunday:
Then we went with Monkey to see Hillary Clinton talk in Oakland - we arrived at 3PMish and waiting and waiting, got crushed in a crowd - at 4:30PM - finally moved to hear the warm up speakers - all praising Hillary and pushing t-shirts, listened to a bunch of bad pre-acts - at 6PM she still hadn't spoke so... we got cocktails.

2) Subject: EMERGENCY, a rescue is being shut down, Rocket Dog Rescue is willing to help/we need your HELP!

Hello all... friends, of Rocket Dog Rescue and fellow rescuers,

I just received an emergency call from a rescue in Sacramento area that is being closed down, I am unclear as to why, but wanted to step in and help save the dogs if we are able. The situation sounds pretty dire, and the animals have 30 days to get into another rescue group, or into homes. One young pitbull was seized and taken to the county shelter, I am unsure why, but it does not sound good for the poor dog.
Rocket Dog Rescue will be taking in 8 Dachshunds in the first group of dogs, after we place them into secure foster homes/adoptive homes, we will continue down the list until they are all safe. If you would like to foster or provide a home for a specific dog, please contact one of us, numbers and emails listed at the bottom of this email.
I am unsure as to the animals temperaments, but the rescuer said they are all "sweet as pie" and between the ages of 1 year to 6 years, for the most part. We have yet to access the dogs and will need to do that in order to match them with the right people.

We were promised some photos over the next few days, but do not at this time have any photos.

This is a partial list of what is in immediate danger:
8 dachshunds.
3 rat terriers,
2 cockers,
3 poodles(one small 8 lb black male) female, white, 8 lbs (in heat at this time) standard size white, male;
momma dogs with pups, weighs about 15 pounds, unknown breed, med length hair, pups just born.
7 pomeranians.
and about 30 assorted small breeds,
L.H. chihuahua.,
pugx etc.. all sweet loving dogs, some fixed, some not.
pitbull x male, brindle white, sweet loves kids.

Rocket Dog Rescue will take in as many of these dogs as possible, place them, and help with the others, her time limit is 30 days. We are in desperate need of EMERGENCY FOSTER HOMES.
Foster homes that have one dog, may want to think of adding another foster dog during this emergency situation.
If you have never fostered before, we could really use the help now more than ever.
Some of these animals have been fixed, and vaccinated, some have not. (foster homes need not to worry, all dogs will be vaccinated and fixed by Rocket Dog Rescue, if not done already)

please contact me, at :

or Kay (to FOSTER a dog, or for info on becoming a foster home):
kay@rocketdogrescue.org
415-756-4749

We will need volunteers to help take these dogs to the vet, some are very thin and may have to be fixed. Some are fixed already.

415-370-3833

Thank you all -please pass this on to friends and co-workers, any donations to help with these dogs are tax deductible and truly needed. All of us at Rocket Dog Rescue are 100% volunteer, so every dime that you send for these special needs dogs will go to cover medical care, food, and in some extreme cases, grooming.

Thank you so much- I hope that we can work together to help this group of animals in need!!

-pali

PS, we will drive up on SUNDAY - there are over 60 dogs still in need of rescue. there is a doxie that is disabled in a wheelchair, he is in need of a kind space and some good care.
wem hope to meet later Sunday or Monday with rescues and foster homes at Kositas grooming in Bernal Heights, San Fancisco,
please email or call to arrange a time to meet- thank you all again for your help with this big rescue effort.
