Friends,
October 8 marks the date of the assassination of Che Guevara in 1967.
Members of the Brooklyn Greens habr often held memorial gatherings/memories
and political poetry and commentary for Che.
Anyone want to join me (Mitchel) at the Atlantic Ocean in Brighton Beach,
Brooklyn on Friday evening, to share our thoughts and solidarity and poetry?
Also, please let me know if you are planning activities to commemorate Che
Guevara in other areas ....
All power to the people!
CHE LIVES!!! in all of our hearts.
Mitchel

I received this in the mail today:
"CHE" GUEVARA, 1967 - OCTOBER 8 - 2004
Dear Companeros, Friends and Comrades of the World!
As all of you know, Revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara was cowardly
assassinated in La Higuera, Bolivia, on the 8th of October, 1967, by the
Bolivian Rangers together with the USA empire´s CIA agents.
We will be much honoured to humbly share "in soul" all the acts that you
and your peoples may organize in Comandante Che Guevara's homage, on this
37th Anniversary, since we are sure that no enemy will overcome us, if we
fight together. We support in solidarity all demonstrations that will take
place on October 8, 2004, all over the world.
Hasta la Victoria Siempre!!!
MIL POR CUBA
Buenos Aires, Argentina
p.s.: We are pleased to share with all of you the Document issued by our
organization, the Argentine Group of Solidarity Work "MIL POR
CUBA" (one thousand for Cuba)
Friday, October 8 Homages to Che
ERNESTO CHE GUEVARA, OUTSTANDING ANTIIMPERIALIST REVOLUTIONARY FIGHTER AND
CONSTRUCTOR OF SOCIALISM IN CUBA
We are calling on our people to carry out different activities on October
8, in homage to Che Guevara, on the 37th Anniversary of his death in
combat in Bolivia. We have organized some acts and debates, and are
willing to coincide with other antiimperialist social and
political movements to develop central activities in the City of Buenos
Aires, as well as in other cities of our country, thus complying with the
resolutions of the National Encounter of Solidarity with Cuba held in
August in Santa Fe City.
In this hard time in which mankind has to face imperialism and war,
particularly the USA nuclear superpower and its European Union allies,
together with the "proyankees lickspliters" regimes, as Comandante Fidel
Castro called them, the figure of Che Guevara´s grows inconmensurably.
A tremendous foreign debt of impoverished countries, amounting to billions
of dollars, 840 million human beings suffering hunger and aggressive wars
on sovereign countries as the case of Irak, etc., prove the real nature of
imperialism. Che warned us when he said: "no se debe confiar en el
imperialismo ni un tantico asi, nada" (One should never trust imperialism,
not even a little bit like this, nothing at all).
Consequently, this is the time to deepen antiimperialist struggle just as
the Heroic Guerrilla stated in his "Message to the Peoples of the World
through the Tricontinental". In that Message he raised that "all our
action is a shout of war against imperialism and a call for the unity of
the peoples against the great enemy of mankind, the United States of
America imperialism".
Among all peoples that suffered yankee imperialism aggressions, are Latin
American peoples, especially Socialist Cuba, attacked through reiterated
terrorists aggressions and blockaded criminally since more tha four
decades, actions that caused over 5,000 dead and wounded victims, and 70
thousand million dollars due to economical losses.
Due to the fact that Che made his utmost efforts for the construction of
socialism in Cuba, homages of October 2004 to the great revolutionary -
assassinated by Bolivian Rangers and the American CIA in La Higuera,
Bolivia, in 1967 - should include in the fundamental issues, the
solidarity to Cuba, the demand for ending the mentioned blockade and the
freedom of the five Cuban Patriots being held as political hostages by the
empire.
In this precise opportunity of the inauguration of the 59th General
Assembly of the United Nations, we should demand not only a condemn to the
yankee embargo to Jose Marti´s fatherland, as this would result to be
insufficient and reiterated, considering that since 12 years ago, this type
of claim has been submitted to the General Assembly, resulting in a good
help to isolate the criminal owners of the White House, but they have never
complied with the resolutions emanated from the General Assembly. For all
above and as we don't trust in world organizations that demonstrated not to
be able either to avoid wars of sacking against oppressed nations, or
bombings on civilian people, imperial blockades, etc., we propose that this
year we go forward by pressing the General Assembly to vote for political
and economical sanctions against a country that attacks sovereign countries
and violates the United Nations General Assembly´s decisions.
Ernesto "Che" Guevara lives. Cuban children repeat it every day when they
raise the flag of the lonely star and they affirm: "Pioneers for Communism,
we will be like Che". This is also confirmed by the whole grassroots, who
are ready by all means to defend the inmense humanistic work made by the
Revolutionary Socialist Cuba, notwithstanding the threats of the
nazi-fascists of the Whitehouse, the State Department and the yankee Pentagon.
In Argentina, from this far away South Cone of Latin America, we are ready
too to defend the Island of Dignity, as this also belongs to us and to the
world, like Che does. We are also in a position to go on spreading his
thoughts and his actions, in order that he may accompany and lead the
struggles of all the workers and oppressed peoples of the planet.
Che walks side by side with us, and on this October 8 we will shout from
the factories, from the poor working class quarters, from the schools,
from the universities and from all the parks:
Comandante Che Guevara, PRESENTE!!!
We will never leave Cuba alone in its fight against Fascism!!!
We shall overcome!!!
We sign on behalf of the Argentine Group of Solidarity Work with Cuba "MIL
POR CUBA"
