Event

Compas --

These are the current plans for the Santa Rosa Nov. 3rd CODE RED
gathering, which is intended as a convergence for all in the North Bay who
are interested in exerting grassroots power on the day after the national
election (motivation: no matter who wins the election, we do not live in a
democracy, and we would like to) -- although North Bay towns that are
holding their own events are encouraged to stay in touch. Healdsburg is
already planning one such autonomous event.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Nov. 2, Election day. Vote!
Evening - Art-making party and watching the election returns at the Sonoma
County Peace & Justice Center. 467 Sebastopol Ave in Santa Rosa.

Nov. 3rd, the day after the elections --
10am: Gather at Courthouse Square in Santa Rosa. WEAR RED, for Code Red,
to demonstrate our recognition that our democracy, and so much more, is in
a state of emergency. From there we are planning a eulogy and funeral
procession for democracy, targetting local examples of democracy's death,
followed by a rebirth of inspiration.

Literature about the state of democracy in America, and why we're in the
streets and possible next steps will be available for people to distribute
to the Santa Rosa lunchtime crowd afterwards or on the march.

1.30pm: Food not Bombs will serve food from the Unitarian Universalist
courtyard. Their building is located at 547 Mendocino Ave, cross street
7th.

2pm-4.30pm: Democracy outbreak. A gathering for people to discuss the
events of the day, the trends of our movement, and next steps. Lightly
facilitated with an emphasis on small group discussion, this is truly what
democracy looks like. Also at the Unitarian building.

5pm-7pm: Reconverge at courthouse square for a vigil to provide a last
gathering point for the day, and to offer solidarity for those that
couldn't miss the day at work.

Interested groups can endorse our statement of unity (posted here:

707.523.4304 or meddle@riseup.net. Pledge to just show-up, or help with
legal or medical, etc. on the day of.

See you in the streets...
