Black Mirror | Nosedive Featurette [HD] | Netflix
Charlie Brooker examines society's addiction to social media and their online profiles in Season 3's "Nosedive." The episode follows Bryce Dallas Howard's Lacie, who uses an app called Nosedive that allows people to rate the user's interactions with others. If Lacie receives high ratings on Nosedive, she'll be able to save money on a luxury apartment, rent nice cars, and have an easier life.
Although many viewers consider "Nosedive" disturbing for its unsettling depiction of social media, Black Mirror shows Lacie successfully confronting her addiction to the app. Lacie begins the Black Mirror episode preoccupied with the ratings she receives on Nosedive. By its conclusion, she learns to stop caring about how others perceive her and embraces her own individuality.

Star Trek is one of the most iconic sci-fi franchises, so it's no surprise that Black Mirror decided to satirize it with "USS Callister." This loving pastiche to the long-running show follows Callister Inc's founder Robert Daly, as he creates a virtual world based on the TV show "Space Fleet" where he is the USS Callister spacecraft's captain.

Black Mirror - Arkangel | Official Trailer [HD] | Netflix
"Arkangel" discusses toxic parenting and helicopter parenting through Marie, a helicopter parent who decides to place an implant in her young daughter, Sara, that tracks her every move. Marie uses Arkangel on her tablet and uses the tracker's functions to blur Sara's vision whenever she sees something gory, inappropriate, or stressful.
Sara is eventually able to break free of Marie's control by knocking her mother unconscious with her tablet, but she is only this violent because she's unable to see what she's doing, thanks to Arkangel's blur vision feature. When she destroys her mother's tablet, Marie is no longer able to track Sara. By the end of the Black Mirror episode, Sara is able embrace the outside world without any restrictions.

The episode follows a young girl named Rachel, who receives an AI doll of her favorite pop star for her birthday. After Jack and Ashley accidentally bring the doll to life, they realize that the real pop star Ashley O is controlled and abused by her aunt/manager, Catherine.
Black Mirror's "Rachel, Jack, And Ashley Too" shows Catherine drugging the singer and putting her in a coma. It takes a more positive turn when Rachel and Jack lead a mission to rescue Ashley O. The doll and kids free Ashley O, creating a surprisingly optimistic Black Mirror ending.

Joan Is Awful In Real Life | Black Mirror Season 6
Black Mirror's sixth season provides the excellent quality viewers expect from Charlie Brooker. "Joan Is Awful" is a particular standout and follows Joan as she discovers her life has been turned into a streaming show. "Joan Is Awful" is, at first, a startling depiction of the power that an online service can hold over its users, but it's a surprisingly upbeat storyline.

Joan's next move upon discovering Streamberry's new show is to seize control over its narrative by forcing its CGI deepfake of Salma Hayek to perform some particularly embarrassing actions. Joan's cunning act of defiance results in one of Black Mirror's most powerful scenes, as the supposedly real Salma Hayek teams up with Joan to take down Streamberry's systems. "Joan is Awful" has an empowering message about taking control of life.

Black Mirror - Season 3 | Official Trailer [HD] | Netflix
Black Mirror's "San Junipero" tells a wonderful story about elderly love. This heartwarming tale centers around the fabricated reality of San Junipero, which is home to the deceased after they die. Elderly pensioner Kelly - played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw - meets Yorkie, and they quickly fall for one another.
Black Mirror's Kelly and Yorkie are visitors to San Junipero rather than residents, but they agree to be euthanized so they can live together inside the fabricated seaside town.
