Sex, Love, and Enlightenment with Dr. Deborah Anapol at One Taste
Tuesday, March 6, 7:45 PM One Taste Urban Retreat Center
1074 Folsom St at 7th San Francisco, CA 94103 415.503.1100
http://www.onetastesf.com/urbanmonk/ump/lecture.html
Sex, love, and enlightenment! For those ready to move on from the quest for material rewards and worldly success; sex, love and enlightenment often become the carrots motivating our behavior. When these essentially spiritual energies become the objects of egoic pursuit the search is doomed from the outset.
Join Dr Deborah Taj Anapol for an enlivening discussion of how sex and love can serve to create greater awareness and how they can lead us down the primrose path of self-deception, addiction, and separation. What do we really mean by conscious sex and conscious relationship? What is the true nature of love? What happens when egos practice polyamory? What happens when egos seek enlightenment?
This evening also includes an experiential, non-verbal exploration of these questions. Guided interactions with all those present offer an opportunity to taste the essence of the One. Read a sample chapter of Dr Anapol's new book at http://www.sevenlawsoflove.com
7:45PM-9:45PM, $10-15 suggested donation

Smashing the G8 Summit 2007 in Germany! SF INFOTOUR
March 6th, TUESDAY 8pm Station 40 3030b 16th st. (&Mission), San Francisco
Once a year the leaders of the 8 richest nations meet behind closed doors in secret with no publicized agenda or published minutes, to discuss the fate of the world. They’ve been making empty promises for decades about improving the environment, poverty in Africa, and lots more, but the fact is that the G8 is not the solution to these ills, it is the problem! We are preparing in Germany for large scale protests against the G8 meeting this June 6-8, 2007, and plan to come tell you about what is going on here. We have done over 200 presentations in 25+ countries since November 2005, and are now coming to your town!
The Infotour will include both a history of the G8 and the past resistance against the G8 in Germany. After this historical perspective, there will be a detailed presentation of plans for derailing the summit this June in Northern Germany. The evening will feature multiple videos and a slideshow presentation. You do not have to be planning to go to the G8 summit this summer to come to the infotour, if you can't make it to Germany come next tuesday to learn about the G8 and the European culture of resistance against global capitalism.

Sunday, March 4th, 2pm: Salon in the Grove - Special Topic: Standing Like a Tree Qigong
(Salon is held every Sunday at 2pm)
This week, we will explore topics such as Plant Spirit Medicine (an indigenous tradition), Listening to the Wisdom of the Trees, and Standing Like a Tree with a Tai Chi and Qigong exercise. We'll also hear updates on grove support needs, the status of the protest, and Native American leader Zachary Running Wolf. We will become initiated into thesis of Dr. Michael Mayer’s book and learn how Tai Chi and Qigong are initiatory traditions that stem from a long-lost lineage that includes self-healing, spiritual unfoldment, self-defense and changing your life stance through “shape shifting.” You'll learn why Standing like a Tree Qigong (zhan zhuang) has been called “the million dollar secret of qigong,” how the animal forms of Qigong can help you reactivate your primordial self, and why Yi Chuan Walking Meditation adds something vital to traditions of Walking Meditation. Sink your roots into an age-old, cross-cultural shamanic tradition, which grew from adepts who studied nature; this tradition has much to teach us today about how to adopt a grounded stance, sink our chi, and keep our hearts open during times of stress as we are protesting injustice.
Featuring Laura K. Brown, Ph.D. www.metaformia.com, David Weinstein, Dr. Michael Mayer, and Susan Park.
============= Wednesday, March 7th, 5pm:

Meet and start at Memorial Oak Grove, 5 pm Wednesdays. Contact: canyonwalks@gmail.com and visit the blog: http://canyonwalks.blogspot.com/

CRAIGSLIST FOUNDATION'S NONPROFIT NIGHT
Topic: Nonprofit Capacity Building Through Skill Sharing
Facilitator: Allen Gunn, Executive Director of Aspiration
Many aspects of nonprofit operations, strategy and technology can be vexing if you don't have the right people to ask for guidance. Our next Nonprofit Night will allow participants to form small groups based on areas of need and interest, to compare challenges, share skills and experiences, and otherwise discover allies and resources. This peer-to-peer sharing model will allow each attendee to solicit input and ideas on a topic or challenge of his or her choice, drawing from the experience of other nonprofit leaders.
Networking begins at 5:30pm. Workshop begins at 6:00pm.

3/15 5pm Forest for the Trees-Judi Bari v. The FBI-Free Movie Event
GGU National Lawyers Guild presents a film screening of:
"THE FOREST FOR THE TREES"-Judi Bari vs. The FBI
A film by Bernadine Mellis
With Special Guest Speaker Bari's Attorney and this year's NLGSF Testimonial
Dinner Honoree Dennis Cunningham
Thursday, March 15th 5-6:30 p.m. Room 2203
Golden Gate University School of Law
536 Mission St., between 1st and 2nd Streets
FREE Dinner will be Provided.
This film is an intimate look at an unlikely team of young activists and old
lefties who come together to battle the U.S. government following
environmental activist Judi Bari's arrest on terrorism charges in 1990.
Judi Bari was an Earth First! leader who was one of the first to place as
much importance on the legacy and future of the trees as she did on timber
workers' lives and families. But that strategic relationship was too much of
a threat. Her car was bombed in 1990, and three hours later, she was
arrested as a terrorist--charges that were later dropped. Convinced it was a
ploy by the FBI to discredit her and Earth First!, Judi decided to sue.
Cunningham took on Judi's case and after 12 years, Judi Bari v. the FBI
finally gets a court date. Knowing this is one of her father's most
important cases, Mellis is there at strategy meetings, at breakfast, driving
to and from the court, documenting her morally driven, very tired dad. Not
your typical Take your daughter to work day, THE FOREST FOR THE TREES
offers access to a piece of U.S. history that everyday grows increasingly
resonant.
Q&A and Reception with Dennis Cunningham to follow.
Co-Sponsored by the GGU Environmental Law Society.
"I hope the FBI finds the bomber, and FIRES him!" -Judi Bari

How is your asking going? Are you receiving as many "Yes's" as you would like?
Do you have a compelling vision you keep to yourself yet yearn to express?
Are you daunted by some of the challenges that you face as you pursue your goals?
The Freedom to Ask & The Art of Asking was well received last month. People report that they are enjoying practicing the distinctions, asking more frequently and receiving more "Yes's"!
Due to popular request, this active learning program is again being offered FREE of charge on the weekend of March 24th and 25th, 10A-6P at the Arete Center. 743 Clementina @ Howard / Folom / 9th / 8th St.

April 7 - Burning Man Town Hall (actual name of event may be changing) http://burningman.com
BunnyJam07 is coming up, Saturday April 7th.
It's going to be at the Porn Palace space in SF (mission, near the metreon parking garage).
Great space, that looks really nice inside. Castle Room, Barnyard, Retro Bar Room, Jail Room, and more.
The theme is going to be: "The Hare-Itics Ball : Ye Ole Bunny Jamme" Hop with it.
We really need some fresh bunny art so it's not just the same stuff recycled from last year.
We have alot of small (as in up to 5x5 feet) spaces spread around the venue that we'd love to fill with bunny art. This is where you come in to play. Do you have an idea for an art installation, interactive art piece, performance art piece, or anything really, that you would like to bring to bunny jam?
If so, send me a message or email me at sfaaron26@yahoo.com
We also need general volunteers for set up and running the party, but that doesn't take as much advanced planning.
Thu April 12, 7:30–9 p.m. Nancy DeStefanis, Executive Director of San Francisco Nature Education, will lecture and screen the short films Above the Nests, directed by Nancy DeStefanis, and Heron Island, directed by Judy Irving (Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill). Nancy will also present a brief slide show of highlights of the 2006 great blue heron colony.
Sponsored by the San Francisco Naturalist Society, the films will be shown on Thursday, April 12, 7:30–9 p.m. at the Randall Museum Theater, Randall Museum, 199 Museum Way, San Francisco. For more information see the Calendar of Events on our website http://www.sfnature.org

save earth by eating low on food chain
http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2007/03/01/18370893.php
Eating animals necessarily means
indirectly eating many, many more plants than one would require if
one ate plants directly instead. Thus, even if one values plants
equally with animals, it makes much more sense to eat the plants
directly. If we are to live at all, ultimately plants must be eatedn
In any case, environmentally, it is tremendously less damaging to
maintain a plant-centered diet rather than a meat based one.
Eating low on food chain kills less plants.
If you eat meat, ten times as many plants are killed to feed livestock.
Feeding plants to livestock wastes calories on heat, bone, skin, hair, things you don't eat.
It takes ten pounds of protein from grain to get one pound of protein from meat.
So you can feed ten vegetarians with the amount of grain it takes to feed one meat eater.
