WHEN AND WHERE IS LIB?
Mark your calendar, this year's most amazing green music festival is
in the Santa Barbara mountains Friday - Sunday, May 11-13th! (See
http://www.lightninginabottle.org/ for event details & to buy tickets
($100).)
WHAT IS THE SF BAY AREA LIB THEME CAMP?
The SF Bay Area LIB Theme Camp is a green, leave no trace mini-theme
camp for LIB, with 75+ people on the list so far. The mission of the
camp is to strengthen & demonstrate our green community spirit and to
have fun!!
WHEN IS THE THEME CAMP MIXER?
SUNDAY APRIL 29th 5-8pm
Our theme camp mixer & garden party is on SUNDAY APRIL 29th 5-8pm in
my backyard at 128 Linda Street, SF CA 94110. All welcome! I will
provide the SANGRIA & some appetizers. Please bring friends and a
drink or vegetarian bit of yumminess to contribute! We will meet in
my garden under the redwood & avocado trees...please bring warm clothes
in case the fog decides to roll in! Besides some great socializing &
Sangria, we'll discuss theme camp plans, carpooling, & caravans.
We'll also ask if anyone else wants to help volunteer, but don't be
shy to email me before that!!
WHAT IS THE THEME CAMP PROVIDING?
The theme camp is providing:
· Social camp mixer/garden party prior to the festival (4/29!)
· Organization of a huge SF Bay Caravan to LIB. We're aiming for 2
bio buses and as many bio or hybrid cars as we can muster (though gas
powered carpools are also sweet!).
· Reserved camping space, even for late arrivals!
· Beautifully decorated theme camp area.
· Dome chill lounge with solar power for socializing, cuddling,
acoustic music, small performances, yoga, & acro play sessions.
HOW MUCH DOES THE THEME CAMP COST?
Nothing!! However donations of money, time or resources greatly
appreciated!
HOW DO I JOIN THE EMAIL LIST?
Want to join the theme camp and carpooling down to LIB? Just add
yourself to the google group list: "Lightning in a Bottle SF Bay Area
Theme Camp" LIB-SFBayAreaThemeCamp@googlegroups.com or send an email
to yohitch@gmail.com saying "add me to list, baby!!" and I'll put you
on the camp email list! If not, definitely come to the Mixer to get
connected!
IS THERE A WORK REQUIREMENT?
No!!! You are not obligated to do any work to camp with us. But, the
more people put in, the more fun we'll have, so we'd love your help!!
If you want to volunteer time, resources, or inspiration, email me at
yohitch@gmail.com to let me know. C'mon...you know you wanna, because
you'll meet all kinds of crazy like-minded kool kids in the process &
be integrated into the tribe even before you arrive at LIB!!
SOUNDS SWEET! HOW CAN I HELP?
We need help:
I. Finding needed resources that we'll need to borrow for the
weekend, Here is a list of resources we need:
-- more biodiesel & veggi oil buses w/ Drivers -- anyone out there
connected?? I can get a free ticket for the drivers/owners, +
passengers will contribute fuel $$!!
-- more dedicated hybrid & bio cars/vans & drivers for the SF caravan
(sorry, no discounts)
-- a very large geodesic dome (PVC preferred for easy set up!)
-- decorations for the geodesic dome
-- rope lights & extension cords for the dome (we already have solar
power for the
electricity!!)
-- pillows, pads and foam mattresses for the dome interior
II. Volunteering for camp set up, planning, etc. Here are some
of the jobs we need volunteers for:
-- early arrival project lead & set up crew to stake out camp & build
dome (thursday night or friday morning, may 10th/11th)-this will be so
fun!!
-- strike project lead & crew to take down dome, pack bus & ensure
leave no trace (sunday afternoon or, if desired, monday morning, May
13th/14th
-- Decoration, Padding, & Lighting Project Lead and Crew members for
dome - ideally decoration crew will arrive by Friday afternoon!
III. Recruiting other kool peeps to the camp (I'll put them on the
list if they email me at yohitch@gmail.com). In particular we want:
-- acoustic musicians (amplified sound not allowed in our camp)
-- artists, poets, performers & storytellers for dome entertainment
-- owners of eco-friendly cars & buses
-- any coolios who wants to volunteer their energy or resources to the
camp
-- all kinds of eco-friendly peeps that would add spirit & camaraderie
to our green theme camp!!
