It's Weirdo de Mayo, and the beginning of the outdoor events season! For
the last time, Howard Street will be transformed into a festival for
peace. Due to its overwhelming success, the How Weird Street Faire is
being forced to relocate. So we're going out in style... showcasing some
of the most creative art, music, and performances in America!
Music provided by CCC, Sunset, Tantra, Symbiosis, Earthdance, Lowpro
Lounge, Dub Beautiful, False Profit, and Music Without Borders (Get
Freaky, Muti Music, and Raindance)! Art and decor by Anon Salon.
The How Weird Street Faire is centered at Howard and 12th Street, in the
SOMA district of San Francisco. At that intersection, there will be a
mandala made of grass – the world's only urban crop circle – where
festival-goers can relax, connect, and learn about fostering peace.
Please bike or take public transportation to the faire. There will be a
bike valet service provided by the SF Bicycle Coalition. The faire is
located two blocks south of Market Street & Van Ness.
Entrance at 12th Street and South Van Ness, San Francisco, Earth.
Requested donation of $5 in costume, or $10 without (kids free).
All ages welcome. Colorful costumes strongly encouraged!
All proceeds benefit two Bay Area non-profit organizations.
It's Weirdo de Mayo this year, as the How Weird Street Faire ushers in
the beginning of the 2007 season of outdoor events, and you are
invited to participate. Don't miss the last faire on Howard Street.
Once again, we will fill the center intersection of Howard and 12th
Streets with a mandala of grass - an urban crop circle - a place to
relax and connect. There will be five city blocks filled with music,
art, and performances. This year will feature a special new area
called "Ambient Alley" on Kissling Street, a place to escape with
chill down-tempo music. The rest of the faire will feature seven dance
stages powered by bio-diesel, and one sound system completely powered
by humans on bikes! The How Weird Street Faire is going green this
year, highlighting sustainable technology and solutions. The faire is
an unique event, found only in San Francisco.

Celebrate the fun of "Weirdo de Mayo" with San Francisco's most unique
music and art festival on Sunday, May 6th, 2007.
San Francisco - (April 4, 2007) For the eighth and last time, Howard
Street will be transformed into a festival of peace. The How Weird
Street Faire is being forced to relocate due to its overwhelming
success, so it's leaving the neighborhood in style - featuring five
city blocks of high quality music, art, performances, vendors from
around the world, and much more. Art and decor will be provided by
Anon Salon. Music will be provided by CCC, Sunset, Tantra, Symbiosis,
Earthdance, Lowpro Lounge, Dub Beautiful, False Profit, and Music
Without Borders (Get Freaky, Muti Music, and Raindance).
The How Weird Street Faire is going green, as one of this year's
themes is sustainable technology. All seven dance stages will be run
on bio-diesel this year. Recycling and composting will be provided by
Green Mary, including educational materials. This year's faire will
generate almost zero waste. There will be bike powered educational
exhibits and a bike powered stage provided by Humboldt State's Center
for Appropriate Technology. And there will be exhibits and carnival
games on sustainability. The faire will be documenting the process of
going green, so that they can teach other events what to do. Please
bicycle to the faire or take public transportation. There will be a
bike valet service provided by the SF Bicycle Coalition. The faire is
located two blocks south of Market Street & Van Ness.
The How Weird Street Faire is an experiment in creating peace. It is a
meta-community formed of the diverse music, art, political, and social
communities of the entire San Francisco Bay Area, working together and
finding similarities instead of differences. And for the first time,
the How Weird Street Faire will be represented as a meta-world
environment in Second Life. Through the virtual reality of Second
Life, people will be able to participate in the faire from all over

Join live, or virtually in Second Life, on Sunday May 6th for Weirdo
de Mayo, the 8th annual How Weird Street Faire - celebrating all
things peace, Mexican-American, sustainable, and fun! The requested
donation is $5 in a costume, or $10 without (kids free). Colorful
costumes are highly encouraged. All ages are welcome. Please come
early to experience the whole day. The faire will start at 11:11 am,
and will end at 5:55 pm this year.
The How Weird Street Faire attracts a wide range of people; from
children to senior citizens, and everyone in between. There are
artists and activists, families and freaks, city dwellers and
suburbanites, and people from every part of the world. There is also a
wide range of musical and artistic styles represented at the faire.
Bringing these all together, in the name of peace, is the experiment.
And from the reactions of past participants, it has been an
overwhelming success.
The How Weird Street Faire is a project of and fundraiser for the
non-profit World Peace Through Technology Organization, which is
planning a peace event in Mt. Shasta on 7/7/7.
