San Francisco SF CA USA legal laws naked nude nudity where when how green yellow red
Caveat. Fetlife does not like cross posting, so I will not transfer my post s over here, but peep my Activity page for fuller details.
I have written at length about where to be or not to be nude in SF. Here is a new writing today.
San Francisco SF CA USA
GREEN LIGHT BAKER BEACH NORTH
North end of Baker Beach to golden gate Bridge
100% legal lawful every day 24/7/365
as there is no law against being naked on federal land. Same applies to burningMan Nevada on BLM land.
All other parts of Baker Beach police with guns may ask you to get dressed or kindly move to north end. Suggest you obey the nice officer.
GREEN LIGHT all permitted festivals and street fares in SF
Especially pride, DykeMarch, Castro pink Saturday Eve end of June.
Castro Street fair 1st Sunday October
Folsom Street fair Sept Oct
Door alley/up Your Alley, Street fair summer
Bay to Breakers end of May
Yellow light critical mass. Results may vary.
YELLOW LIGHT Upper HAIGHT ST SF
Parallel to and two blocks south of 5 blocks of panhandle between Stanyan and Masonic.
Just because you see a naked man at the Haight Street fair July or getting away with it on other days on the Haight, which is hands-down, the crunchiest filthiest, most gutter punk and dog infested Bohemian, homeless folk, hang out of what used to be a blissful, psychedelic peace, love and happiness summer of love Birth spot of the entire freaking universe… 1967
…Does not mean you can get away with being naked anywhere else in San Francisco on a non-festival day since Scott Weiner made naked illegal, in SF, 2012
Even before Scott Weiner made nudity illegal in SF on Citi Street in the sidewalks in 2012 it was already illegal to be naked in parks
I suspect because there are children and parks
I suspect this law pre-2012 was similar to the law where you could not smoke cigarettes in parks again, due to presence of children
My theory. Feedback welcome.
WTF why does Apple iPhone dictation always misspell city? I have repeatedly asked at the Apple Store if Citi is giving them a payoff or kickback, and they will not tell me. WTAF

Just because you saw a man, naked, and Golden Gate Park, getting away with it one day, does not mean you too can get away with it
Your results may vary
2024 some men have more privilege than others, I can’t speak of those issues here, TOU TOS
but police are afraid to approach certain men because optics of such an incident could backfire

Basically true, however most officers will ask you to dress. If you mouth off or you've got a jerk, you'll get a $100 fine and have to dress. So, if you're not obnoxious and stay away from certain spots you've got a small chance of legal problems, and that problem is $100 for the first offence. That is if you're just nude. If you're playing with yourself or annoying people you could be hit with a felony, regardless of where you are...you don't want that. |
