San Francisco’s 2nd Annual Love Parade
will once again grace the streets of SF and the Civic
Center featuring 30 music floats that won spots in
this year’s event and festival out of a field of
70-plus entries.
Last year was the first _San Francisco_ Love Parade
and I had the honor of coordinating volunteers to
collect gate donations and we did an amazing job. This
year we are changing and expanding to instead provide
volunteer support for the BARS and some of the FOOD
BOOTHS. I am looking for great volunteers who want to
help raise money for local non-profit groups and
Hurricane Katrina Relief.
As you may know the Love Parade started in Berlin
after the wall separating the city during the cold war
was torn down. It started with one music-truck and
over the next 15 years grew to the premiere music
festival with over a million folks. Last year San
Francisco became the North American Love Parade and we
prepped for 5,000 people. We ended up with about
30,000 and that crowd will double or triple this year.
Within a few years this event will be one of the
largest events in California so this is a great
opportunity to “share the LOVE” on the ground floor of
this historic event. More info on SF’s Love Parade at
http://LoveParadeSF.org
I am recruiting 120 volunteers to donate their time On
Saturday, September 24th
Starting at 1pm. Shifts are 4-9 hours depending on
what folks are up for. We have two basic shifts
starting at 1p and starting at 4p; if you want to
volunteer all day from 1-10p you can but most shifts
are 4-5 hours. No one will force you to work more than
you want!
We are looking for bartenders (both full-bar and
beer/wine pourers); Bar backs and general volunteers
as well. We will provide a spiffy collectors t-shirt
to wear, _clean_ volunteer porta-potties with no
lines, a coat-check for your backpacks and
refreshments to keep you going.
You should have a great attitude and be ready to be
busy, as we know that we will be serving thousands of
folks. Last year we sold out of all our food and
drink. Our catering company will do all the thankless
work AND many of their employees will also be donating
their tips for hurricane relief (we LOVE them!)
We have bars that are just water/Red Bull energy
drinks and we have about seven food booths so young
adults who can work with light supervision are also
welcome.
Every bar/booth will have a tip jar and we will pool
those tips and donate each person’s share to the
respective group – for hurricane Katrina relief we’ll
be donating half to the Red Cross and the other half
to music and arts groups in New Orleans helping the
city recover and rejuvenate.
For every volunteer I need:
Name
e-mail
21 years old plus (or under 21)
if able to do full bar, barback or general volunteer
Shift(s) you’re able to do:
1p-5 or 6p; 4p-9 or 10p; all day
we are somewhat flexible on shift times so please send
me a note with any questions.
You can sign up with friends IF you arrive together.
We should be able to place you in the same area. We
also will have a volunteer’s party mid-October where
we present the monies raised for the charities.
A follow-up confirm email will be sent for where to
report to and to confirm the shift
