The announced Democratic candidates, Carole Migden, Mark Leno, and Joe Alioto Veronese, are participating. The forum promises to be informative, interesting and exciting.
This event is hosted by the 6th Assembly District Democrats Club (Marin & Southern Sonoma Counties) and the College of Marin's Students for Social Responsibility.
The forum will be on at the College of Marin's Olney Hall in Kentfield. The public is encouraged to attend and the event is free.

The purpose of this training is to get community members ready to staff our Sustainability Center, and act as a resource for information, inspiration, and positive action.
If you are interested and able to attend the two day training on September 28th and 29th from 9-3 respond to pam@sustainablefairfax.org . Unfortunately, we are not able to makeup any part of this, as bonding together as a class is part of the experience. Please understand.

Local resident Peter Fugazzotto will talk about the current conditions of the fishing industry. A representative from Good Earth Natural Foods will also talk about the availability of seafood for retail grocers.
Peter's presentation will include information on the following topics:
The seafood we eat and the processes that get it to our plates
Status of fish stocks and the health of the oceans
The safest fish to eat
Actual fishing operations on the seas (especially the high seas)
Current efforts around promoting and certifying sustainable seafood and critique of them
What changes can be made on a personal, institutional and societal level in regard to the seafood we eat and our understanding of the oceans
Peter, a 10 year resident of Fairfax, has been involved in the environmental movement in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past 15 years. He has worked or consulted with a wide number of organizations, ranging from the Sea Turtle Restoration Project, Earth Island Institute, Communities for a Better Environment, Earth Justice, Project Underground, the Louisiana Bucket Brigade, and the Global Community Monitor.

The Marin County Bicycle Coalition will be holding an advocacy training followed by a social gathering (with a pool and hot tub) on Saturday, October 13, 2007 from 1 to 5 PM in San Rafael. This will be a fun-filled and informative event! Sign-up today!
The training will be designed to be relevant to a wide range of bicycle-related issues including the adoption of bike plans, other local issues regarding bicycle safety, upcoming facilities (lanes, paths, bike parking), the North-South Greenway and more.
