I love Marmite! Well... with butter...on bread, not on my skin. Vegemite tastes like ass - or so I have been told.
We went hiking down into the Grand Canyon a few years ago and one of my friends used a "DEET free" repellant and I had OFF (with DEET). By the first evening he was convinced that the non-DEET stuff was attracting mosquitoes! He ended up using my OFF for the rest of the trip. I will try the herbal options but am bringing a can of OFF just in case. I'm not going to let sand fleas ruin my burn. A week of DEET shouldn't do permanents percgensct permafdrost, fpersert damaage - at least no more than inhaling alkali rich dust all day and night ;)
And finally those tiki's will serve a practical purpose! -Ruvi

ALL EZ UP Structures are MORE happy when you secure them with tent stakes, and
LESS happy if you apply a solid wall that acts as a sail and pushes the structure to BREAKING point in HIGH wind if not properly secured.
EZ up brand is GOOD but has a full spectrum of price / quality contiuum ie; you get what you pay for and the HEAVIER guage steel tubes are stronger than the lighter, etc.
I will wait for others to chime in on that specific model. But again. EZ up brand good. Peruse their site for models: http://www.ezup.com/index.html
EZ up brand good. Other brands, not so good. Beware.
Quickshade brand etc. are similar in guage of steel to the cheaper EZ ups.
Cheaper / low end EZ ups are fine for PIC NICS but you MUST secure them at BM if exposed to wind. Think guy wires, tent stakes, etc.

Yeah right, I have never used vinegar in my 16 years there and have only used shea butter once.
Therefore it is enough that I simply shower at night over my cardboard outside my minivan door and slip peacefully into sleep in my clean dry comfy bed. That works for me cause I have tough feet.

TIX must have:
A: raised / embossed "25 year anniversary" and Textured Ring.
B: Holographic hundreds of circles / fish eyes on back same as a silver wristband from x or y festival in Nor Cal, hmmm wich was that? like Harmony Festival.
C: Serial # and 5 digit? Verification code etc.
TIX mus NOT have:
Glitter tape or silver NAIL POLISH in place of printed Hologram.
PRINTED 25 year anniversary shadow or simple puhched solid ring as from a mini tin can or thimble punch or O-ring solid punch.
Hologram must NOT rub off.
Ticket should NOT turn black when you run it by a flame. Ticket should NOT be heat sensitive.

two black men one by the alias Aaron have been scaming people with fake tickets. The other bigger guy is heavy and bit taller with white palms. Between Sunset and Downtown SF. The tickets are very crafty and almost believable and yet there are some things to note about them if you are trying to buy:
First of all have a smart phone scanner to check the bar code! They are FREE!
The printed spiral pattern on their Text itself is good. Which sucks. And it's a bit more glossy of a print.
The stamp the real Burning Man stamp is very detailed and is a heavy texture.
Their stamp is punced with some tool to sort of feel like the BM stamp but its pathetic in comparison (mostly just ring) and its a printed shadow if you are in better light to look at them. Not real.
These guys ticket is printed a little darker blue and it is thicker and a little harder of a ticket.
They wont show ID! AND YOU SHOULD ASK especially now. The whitish print on the back scratches off as well.
MOST IMPORTANTLY!! The bar code is printed and there for not made of real bar code print material.
IT WONT SCAN.

We've been made aware of another scam currently happening: several individuals in the UK and Hawaii who are selling Burning Man tickets with a realistic-looking HMTL payment email requiring payment via Western Union Moneygram, which gives you NO recourse in case of non-delivery. DO NOT pay for any tickets online via Western Union/Moneygram or any kind of direct wire transfer, or you can get scammed ... only use Paypal.
Here are scams to look out for that have happened in the past:
1. Seller gives tickets numbers from another person’s tickets and may even produce photos of the tickets but doesn’t actually possess the tickets, then collects money via mail or Paypal and cuts off contact with buyer. Recourse: possible chargeback through Paypal, no recourse if money order or cash.
2. Seller gives ticket numbers out, collects money and mails an empty envelope or nothing at all. Recourse: possible chargeback through Paypal, no recourse if money order or cash.
3. Seller claims tickets can be printed out at home using a special link they will give out. Collects money and sends bogus email, then cuts off contact. NOTE: BURNING MAN TICKETS CANNOT BE PRINTED AT HOME. Recourse: possible chargeback through Paypal, no recourse if money order or cash.
4. Seller produces fake tickets and sells to people who don’t know what real tickets look like.
HOW TO SPOT A FAKE
We’ve seen some pretty lame copies of tickets in the past, some are simply color photocopies and others are a little more involved, like trying to use glitter fingernail polish to mimic holographic foil. If you know what to look for, you should be able to save yourself the heartbreak and hassle of getting all the way up to the gate and being told you’ve been duped.
There are several security features on the tickets.
There is shiny holographic foil on *both* the front and back. On the front it is the lettering and and in a crisscoss silver pattern, on the back it is the upper and lower rectangle portions of the ticket and the hologram is little circles.
There is also a special raised embossing (stamp) in a custom pattern in the middle of the upper part of the ticket. You should be able to make out the man symbol and read “25th Anniversary” in the circular embossing VERY CLEARLY.
There should be two bar codes in the bottom section of the ticket (one above the stub and one below) with two sets of number/letter codes (that you should check with us before purchasing). The price of the ticket is also in a white rectangle on the top and bottom of the ticket.

AT the GATE, in the DESERT, with winds upto 100 MPH, the Greeters and Ticket takers are NOT scanning your barcodes. Nope. Maybe they are feeling your embossment.
They ARE talking to you. They ARE looking you in the eyes. They ARE checking to see if you are human, if you are prepared, if you brought 1.5 gallons of H2O per person day.
They know what fakes look and feel like and I hope they JAIL and castrate any real counterfeiters but counterfeiters don't goto burn?

If you are buying a ticket and want to check to make sure it hasn't been reported lost, stolen or is part of a known scam - send us an email partiserv(AT)burningman(DOT)com BEFORE you buy it with ALL of the following:
1. The full name of the original ticket holder and the email address they used to purchase the ticket(s)
2. The 8 character ticket serial codes off the back of the ticket(s) as well as the 5 digit number. Without that required information we cannot verify the tickets

Fake burning man tickets are circulating! and they are REALLY good fakes. Beware of these guys. I was tricked into buying 2 yesterday and then realized they were fake. The people have hit Oakland and Reno.
The differences in the fake tickets to real tickets are: The fakes are made of thicker paper than real ones, the fake's color is off on the front graphic, it is slightly lighter in color and has very subtle lower resolution than the real ones, and the holographics on the back flake off when you rub and scratch at them and the reals do not!
They look very real, I inspected them for like 5 minutes and decided they were real but once you have a real one to compare it to you can see the subtle differences! be careful! They have the holographics and the imprinted stamp. Everything is almost exactly the same as a real one.
Demand a receipt and demand the serial numbers so you can send them into the burning man verification center.
The man selling off of craigslist emails from the name George Ross. The phone number he uses is 510-318-0579.
The car he was in was a Ford Taurus in Silver. Cali license plate with a partial plate number 224X
He gets dropped off and walks to the meeting point he has friends waiting back at the car with guns and knives.
Here are pictures of him and the fake tickets. We got his ID, don't know if its fake or not but that IS his picture.
The Serial code on the back of their tickets are JL853RJX Ticket #s 13682 and 13684
He gives a shpeel that his friends backed out and he has extras and that his girl likes to collect the stubs so if you could hit him up after burning man so she can have the stubs! total BS to trick you further into believing they are real.

Was wondering if anyone had verified tickets with them successfully in the last 24 hours (I am writing this on August 20th at 10am PST).
I have access to 2 tickets but I would like to verify them first before I pay. They are $450 each (yes I know it is above face but it is what it is). And if they are verified, then yes I will have an extra ticket which I will sell for $450 but I need to figure out the validation first).
