Man arrested for leaking something that did not happen?
In the increasingly absurd, da-da world of Western government, this may be one of their very best efforts:
Here's a guy who was arrested by his government for leaking the transcript of a conversation his government says did not occur.
Did Bush advocate bombing Al-Jazeera?
We're all familiar with the ways in which the Bush administration has tried to manipulate the press back home, but here's something we hadn't heard before. As the Associated Press
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051122/ap_on_re_eu/britain_iraq
is reporting, British authorities have charged a civil servant with violating Britain's Official Secrets Act by leaking a transcript of a conversation between George W. Bush and Tony Blair. The subject of the conversation: Bush's desire to bomb the offices of Al-Jazeera in Qatar.
The AP report relies on a story from London's Daily Mirror. The Daily Mirror, in turn, quotes one unidentified government source as saying that Bush was joking when he talked about bombing the television network during an April 2004 meeting with Blair at the White House. But the paper also quotes another unidentified official who says that "Bush was deadly serious" about bombing Al-Jazeera, "as was Blair" in trying to dissuade him.
What does the White House say about the charge? "We are not going to dignify something so outlandish with a response," a White House official tells the BBC.

9/11 Revealed: Challenging the Facts behind the War on Terror
September 4, 2005, The Sunday Times (book review in England's leading newspaper)
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2102-1757744,00.html
By allowing the attacks to happen - or in the case of the most extreme theories, by organising them under a "false flag" - the military-industrial complex in America, headed by Dick Cheney and his neocon supporters in the Project for a New American Century, guaranteed that America would stay at war and that profits would stay high. The authors of Revealed, both radical journalists, have subjected the official version of what happened to intense scrutiny and found huge gaps. Recalling that most of what we know about what happened on the planes comes from alleged calls made by passengers on mobile phones, they point out that most experts say that, for technical reasons, this contact would have been impossible to make. They highlight the absence of Mayday distress signals, the failure to find the black-box flight recorders for the WTC aircraft...the failure to carry out a full engineering investigation into why the towers collapsed so fast and the failure to scramble military aircraft to intercept the hijacked aircraft. Even more intriguing is the role of Hani Hanjour, the pilot of Flight 77 that hit the Pentagon. Anyone who examines the route taken by Hanjour will see that it required a complex maneuver by an experienced pilot. Yet in 2001, when Hanjour tried to fly down the Hudson air corridor in a light aircraft, his trainer was so unnerved that he denied him a second run. You don't have to be a conspiracy nut to see that the official account published by the 9/11 Commission is full of gaps.
Note: Hundreds of respected scientists, including a genius friend of Alok Jha, science correspondent, with six patents to his name, have developed devices which produce energy for a very low price, only to have their inventions either bought and shelved or destroyed systematically by those with vested interests My friend's $7 million company was taken over by vested oil interests after first both his home and office were ransacked and than a bullet-hole was put through his office window. For lots more on this, see our New Energy Information Center. http://www.wanttoknow.info/newenergyinformation
Fuel's paradise? Power source that turns physics on its head
November 4, 2005, The Guardian (one of the UK's leading newspapers)
http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/story/0,3605,1627424,00.html
It seems too good to be true: a new source of near-limitless power that costs virtually nothing, uses tiny amounts of water as its fuel and produces next to no waste. Randell Mills, a Harvard University medic who also studied electrical engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, claims to have built a prototype power source that generates up to 1,000 times more heat than conventional fuel. Independent scientists claim to have verified the experiments and Dr Mills says that his company, Blacklight Power, has tens of millions of dollars in investment lined up to bring the idea to market. What has much of the physics world up in arms is Dr Mills's claim that he has produced a new form of hydrogen, the simplest of all the atoms, with just a single proton circled by one electron. In his "hydrino", the electron sits a little closer to the proton than normal, and the formation of the new atoms from traditional hydrogen releases huge amounts of energy. According to Dr Mills, there can be only one explanation: quantum mechanics must be wrong. "We've done a lot of testing. We've got 50 independent validation reports, we've got 65 peer-reviewed journal articles," he said. "We ran into this theoretical resistance and there are some vested interests here.

CNN Flashes a Big "X" Over Cheney's Face During Live TV Speech
At 11:04:45 AM ET Monday CNN was airing Vice President Dick Cheney's speech live from the American Enterprise Institute in Washington -- when a large black 'X' repeatedly flashed over the vice president's face!
The 'X' over Cheney's face appeared each time less than a second, creating an odd subliminal effect.
As this DRUDGE REPORT screen capture reveals, while one 'X' flashed over Cheney's face CNN ran a headline at the bottom of its screen: "CHENEY: I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS WRONG TO CRITICIZE."
One top White House source expressed concern about what was aired over CNN.
"Is someone in Atlanta trying to tell us something?"
A CNN spokesman did not return repeated calls late Monday night. http://drudgereport.com/flash3cnc.htm

A good attitude and beverage of your choice
Our entomologist buddy, Don Ehlen, is bringing his
30,000 odd insect collection to our place (127 Scott St. SF) this
Saturday and we're having a "Bugs and Beer Party, Specimen Viewing and

annual parties are eagerly anticipated events in Don's home town of
Seattle. He did a small "trial run" of a West Coast road show last
year, which was so much fun that he wanted to expand it and do it again.

# 11/29: Light a Candle for Palestine (downtown / civic / van ness)
CANDLE LIGHT VIGIL
Light a Candle to Brighten Bethlehem's Christmas
In the Shadow of Israel's Apartheid
Tue Nov 29 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Union Square, San Francisco
Corner of Geary and Stockton Close to Powell St. BART Station
Stand with Palestine and join the candle light vigil on Tuesday November 29, 2005; Stand with the children of Bethlehem and say no to the continuing repression, killing, imprisonment, torture, expulsion and occupation of the indigenous people of Palestine by Israel?s apartheid forces. Israel continues to receive monetary and political support from the US government.
On November 29, 2005 we will celebrate the International Day in Solidarity with the Palestinian People by raising a candle in Union Square and asking Christmas shoppers to remember Bethlehem and the star of Christmas by divesting from Israel. The star?s brightness will not return to Bethlehem as long as the apartheid wall is casting its racist shadow on Palestine's children. Our candles will shine over Union Square and call for the return of justice to the land of Palestine.
We will also join the international activities in the week of action against the illegal apartheid wall, erected by the Apartheid State of Israel in order to steal more land, and expel more Palestinians. The apartheid wall was declared illegal by the International Court, and violates the Geneva Conventions.
November 29, 2005 also marks the fifth anniversary of launching the International Movement to Divest from Israel

Every other Tuesday night, Encounter Studio presents classic and cult films on an amazingly bright, sharp digital projector in a comfortable home environment. Our feature presentation this week is "Videodrome" by the acclaimed Canadian director of the macabre, David Cronenberg.
Videodrome
1983
Written and directed by David Cronenberg
Starring James Woods and Deborah Harry
Cronenberg's deconstruction of television's dark side is part horror film and part psychological thriller, with unforgettably disturbing imagery and dialog worthy of cinematic immortality. James Woods portrays a cable television programmer who stumbles upon a pirate satellite broadcast that features the most shocking and depraved content imaginable: apparently genuine scenes of torture and murder. This "Videodrome" program warps the minds of its viewers, causing hallucinations and ultimately resulting in the viewers' total detachment from reality. As Woods's character descends into madness, we see laid bare his terrifying visions of the distortion and mutilation of the body as it merges with technology. Despite its gruesome content, this is an important film from an intellectual and historical standpoint. Although it is not for the faint of heart, "Videodrome" should be seen by anyone who casts a critical eye toward the evils of media manipulation.
"...whatever appears on the television screen emerges as raw experience for those who watch it. Therefore television is reality, and reality is less than television." -- Professor Brian O'Blivion

The Warriors of Wounded Knee 1973”
A recently-released documentary investigating the American Indian Movement’s (AIM) occupation of Wounded Knee on the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota.
“On February 27, 1973 traditional and AIM leaders chose [the] location to make a stand–the site of the 1890 massacre at Wounded Knee. Cold, hungry, and armed only with hunting rifles, fake guns, and one AK-47, they held out for 71 days against the US government…A Tattoo on My Heart: The Warriors of Wounded Knee 1973 tells this dramatic and emotional story in the words of those men and women who struggled for survival inside the bunkers and ravines at Wounded Knee.”

# The Veil of Berta Wed Nov 30 7:00 pm
The film is FREE but $5 donations are accepted
THE VEIL OF BERTA Presented by Yael Martinez
This film delicately narrates the story of Berta Quintreman, an
elderly indigenous woman who, at the age of 88, led the last group
opposing the construction of the Ralco Project, a gigantic dam that
will stop the flow of the Bio Bio River and flood the land where her
native Mapuche Pewenche community has lived for centuries. A woman
with a strong personality and a unique blend of humor and energy,
Berta lives alone on her small pieces of land and observes all the
traditions of her people. On a daily basis she greets the trees and
the sun, drinks mate (a traditional herbal tea) with her dead, and
says her prayers. But at the same time we will see that she confronts
the authorities of Endesa (a Spanish transnational company) and the
Chilean government. She manages to halt the machinery and works
together with other families to prevent the flooding of their land.
The Mapuche people are the largest indigenous tribe of southern
Chile. After the ending of Pinochet's military dictatorship and under
increasing pressure from forestry companies, the Mapuche took up the
struggle in the 1990's to recover their territory. This film is
directed by Jeanette Paillán. Jeannette herself will attend the
showing to comment on her work and the situation of the Mapuche
people today. Jeannette's works have been screened internationally
since 1994. Her first documentary, Wallmapu, was awarded at the 2003
Human Rights Film Festival in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Jeannette was
also festival coordinator of the 2004 CLACPI Festival of Indigenous
Film and Video in Santiago, Chile.
Before and after the film, everyone's invited to indulge in our
Humanist Coffee House.

# "Stop Global Warming" Actions on December 3
Saturday, December 3, 2005 more on this date
Climate Crisis Coalition Organizing Nationwide
"Stop Global Warming" Actions on December 3
Climate Crisis, USA Join the World!
http://www.climatecrisis.us today announced that it is
organizing actions across the United States on and
around December 3 to demand that the U.S. government
support action that is commensurate with the urgency of
the deepening climate crisis.
"Scores of Stop Global Warming local actions will be
happening during the Nov. 28-Dec. 9 time period when
the huge, United Nations Climate Conference in Montreal
takes place," said Ted Glick, spokesperson for the
group. "We will be acting in concert with hundreds of
thousands of people in at least 28 countries around
the world who are making December 3rd an
International Day of Action to Stop Global Warming."
The Climate Crisis group is demanding that the U.S.
government join the world by ratifying the Kyoto
Protocol.
Climate Crisis also demands that the federal government
withdraw its annual $25 billion in subsidies for coal
and oil and create equivalent subsidies for clean,
safe, non-nuclear energy alternatives; that it
dramatically strengthen energy conservation and fuel
efficiency standards; that it plan for a just
transition for workers, Indigenous communities and
others affected by a change to clean energy; and that
it actively defend the world's forests and support
community-run tree planting campaigns.
States where local actions will be taking place
include: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado,
Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois,
Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan,
Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio,
Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah and
Washington.
In D.C. on December 3, scores of hybrid vehicles
organized by the Chesapeake Climate Action Network will
circle the White House. In New Orleans the Alliance for
Affordable Energy will be holding a Stop Global Warming
event in the French Quarter. In Los Angeles on December
2, the Labor/Community Strategy Center will be doing an
action calling for an expansion of the city's bus fleet
to provide badly-needed public transportation which
will also cut down on car-producing greenhouse gases.
And in New York, also on December 2, a coalition of
groups will rally in Foley Square across from the
Federal Building calling for the federal government to
stop its obstructionist efforts and instead act to
address this urgent crisis.
In many localities, following the lead of organizers of
a massive march on December 3 in Montreal, participants
in the actions will try to hold their breath for 60
seconds. USA Join the World! coordinator Glick
explained that, 'Doing so reminds us all how important
clean air is to all living things. It reminds us of the
urgency of our work. It is a metaphor for what people
on some Pacific islands may soon have to do as the
oceans rise and their islands disappear and breathing
becomes impossible.'

# The Heydey of Natural History Thu Dec 8 7:30-9 pm Free.
Never has the status of science been held in higher esteem and the
public taken a bigger interest in natural history than during the
mid-19th century in America and Britain. This was a time of great
voyages of discovery, when fabulous fossil beasts were first
unearthed and put on public display. Most of today's renowned science
museums, including the California Academy of Sciences, were
established amid this enchantment with natural history. No middle-
class home was thought complete without a display of butterfly
collections or stuffed birds. John Dillon, Science Director at the
Randall Museum and President of the San Francisco Amateur
Astronomers, will explore the nature and extent of this fervor and
how Charles Darwin's Origin of Species influenced it. San Francisco

GLBT Historical Society Sponsors Celebration of
San Francisco Dyke March History on Dec. 10
Meet the Dyke March, an afternoon of performance, videos,
dialogue and celebration, is set for Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, from 2
to 4
p.m. at the GLBT Historical Society, 657 Mission St., 3rd Floor, San
Francisco. The event is taking place in conjunction with an exhibit
at the
Historical Society of photographs by Cathy Cade and Jane Philomen
Cleland documenting the 12-year history of the Dyke March, a dynamic
gathering that brings together tens of thousands of women each June
to march through the streets of San Francisco the evening before the
annual LGBT Pride Parade.
"Meet the Dyke March" festivities will honor San Francisco Dyke March
cofounders Lisa Roth and Leslie Mullin. The afternoon will feature a
video
presentation by Cade and Cleland; a revue of performance artists,
musicians and drag kings drawn from the Dyke March committee;
reminiscences of Dyke March history; and an opportunity for members
of the community to give feedback to the organizers of the 2006 Dyke
March. In addition, the Historical Society galleries will be open for
viewing. Light refreshments will be provided. The event is open to
the public; admission is free, but donations to support the GLBT
Historical Society are encouraged.
Marking its 20th anniversary this year, the GLBT Historical Society is an
internationally renowned museum, archives and research center devoted to
increasing public understanding, appreciation and affirmation of the history
and culture of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and other sexual minority
individuals and communities.

# Panel Discussion: Int'l Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers
Dec 17 10AM-2PM $5 donation
Dec 17th, Third Annual International Day to End Violence Against Sex
Workers
International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers is meant to
call attention to hate crimes and violence against sex workers all
over the globe. Originally thought of by Dr. Annie Sprinkle and
started by the Sex Workers Outreach Project USA as a memorial and
vigil for the victims of the Green River Killer in Seattle
Washington, it has grown to be a day for strategizing to end these
acts as well as remember the victims. Over thirty cities around the
world have participated in this event.
This year Sex Workers Outreach Project is expanding events to cover
the entire week of December 17th so that we may diversify the forums
for discussion around violence against sex workers.
The Panel Discussion portion of these events on Dec. 17th from
10AM-2PM will focus on both identifying forms of violence against sex
workers, including structural violence and stigmatization, as well as
thinking of solutions. Panelists will include sex workers' rights
activists, sex workers, prison abolitionists, law enforcement, and more!
Our tentative schedule for this entire week is as follows:
Berkeley:
Thursday, December 15th: 6:30 PM-8:30 PM

Oakland:

Wed Dec 21 DAY OF GENOCIDE: Pillgrims Landed 1620
# Unsilent Night Wed Dec 21 6:45 PM Free
----/ Event Description /-----------------------------------------------
"Unsilent Night," composer Phil Kline's free, all-volunteer outdoor
boombox holiday concert, returns to San Francisco for its third
annual performance on Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at 6:45 PM.
A moving piece of ambient public art, Unsilent Night can be compared
to a holiday caroling party, except that participants don't sing.
Instead, each carries a boombox playing a separate cassette, CD, or
MP3 that becomes part of the piece. In effect, Kline and his co-
performers become single elements in a huge, mobile sound system.
Performed within the confines of the city streets, Unsilent Night
reverberates off the cars and buildings, resulting in a magnificent,
drifting cloud of shimmering, echoing sound. The 43-minute piece
includes chiming bells, choral voices, and various electronic
effects. (Kline cites Brian Eno and Charles Ives among his influences.)
Kline has performed Unsilent Night in Manhattan every year city since
1992. In San Francisco last year, some 500 people took part. This
year marks the first chance for iPod users to participate, as Kline
will make MP3 files of the piece available on his website.
Participants are invited to bring a boombox to Mission Dolores Park
at 18th and Dolores Streets, gathering at 6:45 PM. After Kline
distributes tapes and CDs among the players, the group will begin the
piece, strolling a mile-long, predetermined route though the Mission,
Noe, and Castro districts. The event will be held rain or shine.

obvious and blatant freemasonic symbols on the dollar bill, what precisely that hidden microscopic owl is doing there.
Neither will we ever be certain whether those plans for the National Mall surrounding the White House, the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capital proposed by the McMillan Commission in the same year that the Bohemian Owl worshipers legally acquired their grove in California, had anything to do with why there appears to be a Giant Owl surrounding the Capitol Building.
