 We've been without power for approximately 7 hrs and apparently it will continue until midnight tomorrow - another 30+ hours. [The winds are high but not enough to justify paralyzing half the state.]
I'm just wondering what's going to happen with power outages when all things and people are hooked into the Internet of Things (IoT)? When other energy sources such as natural gas, petrol and wood have become illegal and people have smart deadlocks on their doors and no cash in their pockets. When the scanner won't work and you can't buy your 'roach protein flour. What then, please?
What's going to happen when all those automated gates and elevators don't open in those high rise apartment blocks that people in mega cities are being shoved into? Or when their ventilation stops?
What's going to happen when you don't have a personal vehicle, the self driving Uber cannot navigate without the power grid, and you can't reach your telehealth Avatar representative?
It is my personal opinion that the government is currently giving us a taste test of what's to come. A little warning for those who've never had to deal with a power outage lasting more than a couple of hours.
There will be ZERO options outside the electrical Metaverse. A grand catastrophe in the making. |
