Every 1st Thursday: Art receptions @ 49 Geary SF 5:30-7:30pm art PARTY!
30 galleries in a 5 story building. Also 14 geary and 77 Geary till 8pm.

Nora Bateson, (daughter of Gregory Bateson) along with Rex Weyler, will be showing and discussing her film, An Ecology of Mind, at the Namaste Theater on the main campus of CIIS (California Institute for Integral Studies), this Thursday night July 5 starting at 6:30 pm.
1453 Mission St SF @ 10th/ 11th st. SOMA
Gregory Bateson played a significant role in founding family therapy and an important thinker in fields as diverse as environmentalism, animal communication, and systems theory.  The amazing thing about Bateson is that his work and his circle of influence crossed so many disciplines.  His writings, like Steps to an Ecology of Mind and Mind and Nature, can be difficult to understand at first, and the beauty of what his daughter Nora has done is that she sets out his way of thinking so that others may begin to comprehend it in a way which does not oversimplify its richness.
Here is a link to the web site for the film:  This site contains lots of pertinent information including reviews, interviews, awards, etc. 22nd Annual High Sierra Music Festival Thu 5 July - Sun Jul 8 Quincy, CA

Occupy Activists Join Social Justice Organizations to Protest the 1% at the Bohemian Grove July 14
Occupy groups from Santa Rosa, San Francisco, Portland, Sebastopol, and Petaluma, are joining some twenty other social justice activist organizations to protest the powerful one-percent elites partying at the Bohemian Grove in Monte Rio, California July 14-29.
2,000-3,000 rich and wealthy men have gathered every summer for 133 years in a private 2,800 acre ancient redwood retreat to celebrate themselves with parties, entertainment, and speakers. The men, Bohemian Club members and their guests, will hold a cremation of care ceremony July 14, where they symbolically burn the cares of the world before a giant owl in a bizarre annual ritual.
This year’s protest against the gathering of the world’s political and economic elite is called “Occupy Bohemian Grove, Expose the 1%. Occupy groups across America, and increasingly the world, are working to expose the one percent in control of global resources who are bringing human rights repression, environmental destruction, and war to humankind.
The Fukushima Mothers and Cindy Sheehan are joining the twenty-four co-sponsors for a Creation of Care ceremony, speakers, and music, Saturday, July 14, at the Monte Rio Amphitheater, just outside the gates of the Bohemian Grove. Kris Welsh will MC the day, and Dennis Bernstein, host of Flashpoints on KPFA/Pacifica radio will broadcast live from the event. Russia Today-TV with Abby Martin will film and John Rees with No-Lies Radio will video-cast the day on the Internet.
The protest will feature Occupy groups as well as other organizations including Code Pink, Peace and Justice Center, ANSWER Coalition, Project Censored, Bohemian Grove Action Network, Veterans for Peace, National Lawyers Guild, Round Valley Indians for Justice, and various others groups focused on key issues, such as climate change, human rights, Palestine, Cuban Five, and a living wage. Representatives from these organizations and more will speak joining in coalition to create a vast cornucopia of care as a counter to the one-percent elites less than a mile away. In addition to the speakers, the program at the amphitheater will include musical performances by Dave Lippman, Teresa Tudury, Jim Ocean, Scott Gerber, Attila Nagy, Keith Blackstone and the Hubbub Club.
Admission to the Creation of Care is free. It will run from noon to 4 p.m. at the Monte Rio amphitheater, which is located at 9925 Main Street in downtown Monte Rio.

Change is always difficult, and If you've got any questions about how the ticket process works, make sure to cruise over to our (admittedly EXTENSIVE, hopefully EXHAUSTIVE) ticket FAQ:

)'( Last year BM Tix on Craiglist started out HIGH and ended up going at face value before the event
RELAX. You are safe enough to ASSUME you are going. Plenty folk asked for more tix than they needed to cover their friends / family / camps.
You might post a Tix ad in the WANTED section of CL with fun creative text of who you are, once a week if you are bored, or try different text each time.
also List trades or OFFERS of what you will exchange in the SIGNATURE of your EMAIL
speaking of TRADES take a look at
perhaps you can ask for what you want; perhaps stop saying oh I'm fine each time a friend or stranger asks how you are doing. Instead answer that you seek a BM ticket then repeat your offers or trades. Let your friends be your angels and matchmakers. :)

Note if you offered BM $390 your ran in all 3 races. If $320 then 2 races. if $240 then only 1 race hence the % spread...

- STAY INFORMED. The latest ticket information and resources can be
found at and will be disseminated
regularly on the JRS and/or the Burning Blog.

Possible interpretation of BM ticketing process (spreadsheet)
Realizing that the BM ticketing process results are a bit of a conundrum, I had a rough and ready shot at building a spreadsheet (with a glass of wine, you understand) to try to gauge the probabilities of winning tickets. With a few basic assumptions (and assuming the process worked in the same way as advertized), a few rather interesting results emerge whch seem to be about we are seeing. Of course, it would have been more predictive to do this before we had some results so I couldn't fix the assumptions (accidentally or inadvertently), but oh well!
Rough probabilities of winning a ticket at all seem to be:
If you bid $240, 14%
If you bid $320, 41%
If you bid $390, 95%
I could be quite wrong, of course. There do seem to be some results on our yahoogroups and on our facebook page "SiliconVillageBurners" that seem to correlate with this a little bit. You be the judge. More results, the spreadsheet and an explanation can be found at our new webpage Hope useful.

Sat Sep 8 2012 MICHAEL FRANTI & SPEARHEAD present POWER to the PEACEFUL in GOLDEN GATE PARK SF @ Speedway Meadows, JFK @ 25th ave/ Fulton
power to the peaceful this year is charging $10 admission.
I've been working that beautiful party for years but this year (after the break year) the only way it could happen was to charge a nominal fee.  - the years of "gift economy -aka 'free'as you list it" are over due to the gift economy being seen as free not a reciprocal of love energy exchange.  We still have a huge vollunteer staff and truly anyone wanting 'free' admission can just ask to help out.  All the garbage - everything -the healing - there are many jobs to make it run - they're all still run on vollunteership. We as an organization love your community list and I (this is Liz) especially do.  -
Its unfortunate that this is the news.  Power to the Peaceful still wants to get the main message out: That this is an event to empower the peaceful.
Loves. Liz
