The Trap of Connected Tech: Are We Losing Ownership?
Take a moment and think about how much “connected” technology you use daily. For me, it’s a smartphone, a laptop, a couple of smart TVs, and a soundbar—all relying on WiFi, Bluetooth, and cloud-based systems. Seems normal, right? But recent experiences have opened my eyes to something far more insidious: We no longer own our technology. We are merely being granted access—and that access can be taken away at any moment.
The SIM Card Nightmare
A few days ago, I switched phone providers to escape relentless scam calls and billing headaches from my old carrier. It should have been simple: insert the new SIM, and everything should work. And it did—for a week. Then, strange things started happening.
* People who only had my old number were still able to text me on my new number. That shouldn’t happen.
* Thinking it was a phone glitch, I did a factory reset. Big mistake.
* After resetting, my phone suddenly wouldn’t accept the PIN for the new SIM. My decade-old, carrier-unlocked iPhone was acting like it was still tied to my old number.
* Apple, a company that sells hardware, was somehow interfering with who I could connect with using my own device.
Then, the real kicker: I tried to access my iTunes library on my PC—where my purchased music was stored. But Apple’s Two-Factor Authentication sent a code to my old, now-nonexistent number. No code, no access. I was locked out of my own music. *Friends I am now going to scour the internet for as long as it takes to find a way to get my music off of iTunes and converted to .mp3 playable by any device that can play .mp3 I own this music fair and square!
Here’s what this means: If you don’t update your Apple ID with a new phone number before switching providers, you’re screwed. Apple holds your data hostage, forcing you to authenticate through a phone number you may no longer control. Even though I bought and downloaded those songs, Apple still dictates when and how I can listen to them. To update my cellular number with Apple I had to start a “recovery process” which takes 48 hours!
Smart TVs: A Bait-and-Switch Scheme
Then I started noticing similar issues with my smart TVs.
* My Hisense TV constantly flashed WiFi error messages—even when it was connected. Looking into the system settings, I discovered that this model wasn’t even supported. It wasn’t a regular model—it was a “sale version” sold specifically for Black Friday at Costco.
* My new Samsung TV from Best Buy wouldn’t connect to Bluetooth headphones. Again, after investigating, I learned this model wasn’t supported either.
* None of this was indicated on the packaging. There was no warning that these were intentionally crippled versions of their full-priced counterparts.
That’s fraud. Plain and simple.
And it’s not just TVs. I bought a Bose soundbar—again, a “sale” version from Costco. It turns out that if you lose the remote, it’s completely unusable because it has no physical power button. What kind of design is that? A design meant to fail.
This Is Not a Mistake—It’s the Plan
Are these just isolated incidents? Or are they doing this deliberately, knowing most consumers won’t notice?
The answer is clear: They are doing this on purpose.
* Tech companies are tying every device to cloud-based control systems, ensuring we never have full ownership.
* They are selling crippled, unsupported versions of products without telling us.
* Digital purchases aren’t purchases—they are rental agreements disguised as ownership.
And all of this feeds directly into Agenda 21 and The Great Reset.
“You Will Own Nothing” Isn’t a Warning—It’s a Blueprint
When Klaus Schwab said, “You will own nothing, and you’ll be happy,” he wasn’t joking. We are moving toward a subscription-based society, where access is controlled based on what corporations (and governments) permit us to have.
* No more owning movies, music, or even software—just subscriptions.
* No more freely using your own devices—only approved usage through locked systems.
* No more purchasing products outright—only renting functionality.
This is the future they are engineering, and it’s happening right now.
Wake Up—And Take Action
The marketplace is no longer your friend. Every sale, every “deal,” every “update” is another step toward total consumer control. Pay attention. Ask questions. Refuse to comply.
If we don’t push back now, we won’t own anything—because we won’t be allowed to.
