Mid-June Monkey Business
As of mid-June 2025, the year is proving to be eventful. Anti-ICE and anti-Trump demonstrations have erupted across the United States, with Los Angeles, California, emerging as a focal point where protesters are clashing with federal authorities. In response, former President Trump has deployed the National Guard along with a Marine battalion to help restore order. Residents in major metropolitan areas are advised to remain cautious. In related immigration developments, Chinese nationals were intercepted on two separate occasions while attempting to smuggle biological materials into the country.
Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts by the Trump administration to de-escalate global tensions have faced setbacks. The conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues to intensify, with Ukraine launching a surprise strike on a key Russian strategic bomber base. In retaliation, Russia has carried out some of the largest drone and missile attacks since the conflict began. Additionally, nuclear negotiations with Iran appear to have stalled, and reports are breaking that Israel is hitting both nuclear and strategic targets across Iran.
